What do I do if I have a bedroom in the basement?
It is a requirement of the building code that every bedroom must have a window. If your basement bedroom is separate from the rest of the space, you need to install an egress window in that bedroom. If you have two separate bedrooms in the basement, each bedroom will require its own egress window system. Contact A Marksmen Paving & Construction for your egress window needs!
How quickly can I expect an estimate from a contractor?
You can receive an estimate from a contractor almost immediately. However, it's important to only accept estimates from contractors who have inspected your home, listened to your needs, and assessed the situation. This ensures they can make informed recommendations and provide more accurate quotes. Remember, you are under no obligation to commit to any contractor even after receiving an estimate.
Can I install an egress window in a finished basement?
Yes, you can. In fact, over 80% of egress window installations are done in finished basements. The installation process is similar to that of any other basement. However, contractors will take extra precautions to protect the interior of your finished basement from debris and damage during the installation.
My window well is flooding. What can I do?
You should contact a contractor to install a drainage system in the window well. This will help direct water away from the window well, preventing flooding, and reducing the risk of water penetrating your basement and causing moisture problems. Contact A Marksmen Paving & Construction if you're experiencing this issue.
Will installing an egress window weaken the foundation?
Installing egress windows does involve cutting into the foundation. However, an experienced contractor, like our team at A Marksmen Paving & Construction, will carefully assess your foundation to ensure the installation does not affect any load-bearing points in your wall. We will also reinforce the foundation wall as needed to maintain its structural integrity.
Can egress windows be installed in a stone foundation?
Yes, egress windows can be installed in almost any type of foundation wall, including stone. Professional contractors, like our team at A Marksmen Paving & Construction, have the necessary tools and expertise to ensure a successful installation.
How long does it take to have the window installed?
The installation time can vary depending on several factors, but typically, it can be completed within a day. Meaning, there will be minimal disruption to your daily activities.
